TOMI Receives Validation from DOD
TOMI Environmental Solutions announced its SteraMist ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP) has been demonstrated as an effective technology for decontamination of biological toxoids, according to a study by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Biological Select Agents and Toxins (BSAT) Biorisk Program Office (BBPO).
The DOD’s study used TOMI’s SteraMist Select Surface Unit and its Binary Ionization Technology (BIT) solution to determine if biological toxins can be decontaminated in a shorter exposure time than vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP) when used on stainless steel and polycarbonate Lexan. The findings confirmed the efficacy of iHP when decontaminating pathogenic bacteria and bioterrorism agents such as ricin.
“These results validate the significant potential of iHP as a powerful technology for decontaminating biological toxoids,” stated Elissa J. (E.J.) Shane, TOMI chief operating officer. “The study demonstrated effectiveness, rapidity, and absence of material degradation. We believe this will open new avenues for enhancing biosecurity and protecting against biological threats, fueling optimism for a safer and more secure future. We look forward to the continuation of our partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense.”
