ISSA Announces 2025 Policy Priorities to Support a Cleaner Healthier Future
Building on ISSA, the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association’s significant advocacy success in 2024, the association has unveiled its ambitious 2025 Policy Priorities. These priorities are aimed at fostering growth, innovation, and sustainability in the cleaning and facility solutions industry by focusing on ensuring cleaner, healthier spaces while advancing the industry’s competitiveness, workforce, and improved regulatory landscape.
- Promoting Growth through Tax Policies
ISSA supports tax incentives for businesses, equipment upgrades, and investment in innovation. The association also opposes tariffs on essential cleaning materials and state-level taxes on cleaning services. - Expanding Workforce Development
Addressing the demand for skilled workers, ISSA is pushing for increased funding for training and apprenticeship programs, alongside expanding hiring incentives like the Work Opportunity Tax Credit. - Ensuring Cleaner, Healthier, and Accessible Spaces
Policies encouraging sustainable practices, robust cleaning standards, and pandemic preparedness are at the forefront. ISSA also supports increased accessible public spaces by supporting initiatives to put free period products in school bathrooms and the removal of sales taxes on period products. - Strengthening EPA Office of Pesticide Programs
The association advocates for an appropriately funded, transparent, and streamlined EPA regulatory process to expedite approvals and encourage innovation. - Defending Science-Based Best Practices
ISSA opposes policies that undermine scientific cleaning standards and industry best practices. The association supports worker safety initiatives rooted in science and aims to align sustainability efforts with public health priorities.
John Nothdurft, ISSA’s Director of Government Affairs, emphasized the importance of these priorities, stating: “The cleaning industry is essential to public health and economic growth. These priorities ensure that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand, empowering us to create cleaner, healthier, and more accessible spaces.”
ISSA encourages all industry leaders to make their voices heard and engage in advocacy efforts. A prime opportunity to do so is at the 2025 Clean Advocacy Summit, set to take place in Washington, D.C., on March 31 – April 1. This summit will bring together industry experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the future of the cleaning industry and advocate for policies that matter most.
