3M Reveals Finalists for 2023 Young Scientist Contest
3M, in partnership with Discovery Education, has announced the 10 finalists in the 2023 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
Now in its 16th year, the annual competition called for middle school students to submit a video demonstrating an innovation that could provide a solution to an everyday problem, with the finalists participating in a summer mentorship program with 3M scientists. The winning student will be crowned “America’s Top Young Scientist” and receive the US$25,000 grand prize.
“For 16 years, the 3M Young Scientist Challenge has exemplified our belief in harnessing the power of people, ideas, and science to reimagine what’s possible. The remarkable young innovators of this competition share our determination to help shape a brighter future.” said John Banovetz, 3M executive vice president of environmental responsibility and chief technology officer. “By asking students to think creatively and apply the power of science to everyday problems, incredible solutions and leaders arise.”
