3M Announces Finalists for 2023 Young Scientist Contest
3M, in partnership with Discovery Education, has announced the 10 finalists in the 2024 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
The 17th-annual middle school competition called for students in grades 5–8 to submit a video demonstrating an innovation that could provide a solution to an everyday problem. A panel of judges selected the 10 finalists based on their communication skills and passion for science and innovation. The finalists will now participate in a summer mentorship program with 3M scientists. The winning student will be crowned “America’s Top Young Scientist” and receive the US$25,000 grand prize.
“For 17 years, the 3M Young Scientist Challenge has brought together some of the world’s brightest young minds to reimagine what’s possible,” said Torie Clarke, 3M executive vice president and chief public affairs officer. “Each of the remarkable students exemplifies how science and innovation make the world a better place for all.”
