We’re Looking For Volunteers For The Following Task Forces:

Testing and Validation Work Group

This task force creates the standard test methods for validation of surface disinfection compatibility. The ISSA Healthcare Surfaces Institute currently holds a patent for one test method for testing raw materials.

Education and Workforce Development

This task force will focus on understanding the key challenges and inconsistencies that hinder effective cleaning and disinfection practices. Acknowledging that consistent training and workforce development are essential, the group will go beyond foundational issues to create practical tools and targeted training and rewards for proven competencies. Their goal is to close knowledge gaps, and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration to promote a shared understanding of each team member’s role in maintaining a safe healthcare environment.

Instructions for Use (IFU/DFU)

This task force will work to establish a standard process to transform Instructions/Directions for Use into clear, user-friendly tools that enhance safety compliance and efficiency across healthcare. This group conducts research surveys and launches case studies.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Communication

The Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Communication Task Force is dedicated to strengthening collaboration within healthcare teams and across healthcare facilities, with a primary focus on improving patient safety. By fostering open communication and coordinated efforts, the task force aims to support meaningful and lasting improvements in healthcare environmental hygiene. Using structured cohort groups, members work together to identify challenges, share best practices, and implement effective changes that enhance teamwork and overall healthcare outcomes.

Solutions and Innovations

This initiative evaluates healthcare innovations that enhance the patient experience while promoting a clean, safe, and sustainable environment. They are collaborating with the Testing and Validation Task Force to develop a standardized assessment process. This process enables innovations to be reviewed for practical adoption, efficiency, compliance, and safety to support evidence-based practices and reduce healthcare-associated infections.

Standardization Protocol Validation Interpretation (Regulations Guidelines)

To reduce HAIs, this task force will create a standard to increase the effectiveness of cleaning and disinfection processes. It will create best practice guidelines, review existing tool kits for best practices, and determine ways to validate clean.

Sustainability

This Task Force will evaluate and advance sustainable practices in healthcare by focusing on the economic, environmental, and operational impacts of materials and chemicals. Key initiatives include assessing market elasticity and ROI for sustainable chemicals, promoting reusable and recyclable materials, and balancing cost, efficacy, and safety. The group will develop lifecycle analyses (LCAs), certification programs, and metrics to guide sustainability efforts. It will also explore operational innovations such as on-site chemical generation and reduced packaging while leveraging technology to proactively manage risk. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the Task Force will drive measurable, sustainable change across healthcare systems.
