The Impact of Giving Back Through ISSA Charities
ISSA Charities is a nonprofit organization with the mission of making the world a cleaner, better, healthier place to live. Every year, ISSA Charities helps thousands of people in our communities by providing support through programs that empower students through scholarships, mentor women in the cleaning industry, and create healthier homes for cancer patients.
ISSA Charities has set a goal to reach US$100,000 this year to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of ISSA! Learn more about each ISSA Charities program by reading the personal stories of people who have been supported and impacted by its generous donations.
ISSA’s Cleaning for a Reason
Cleaning for a Reason (CFR) provides free home cleanings to patients battling cancer. When cancer makes life at home difficult, CFR’s trusted network of residential cleaners, cleaning industry volunteers, and community members come together to support cancer patients and their families.
When Cleaning for a Reason recipient Mary Lou was diagnosed with cancer, having her home cleaned for free provided light during a very dark time in her life. “I had a stem cell transplant and was not allowed by the doctors to vacuum or dust or clean the bathrooms. I didn’t know what to do as finding and affording a cleaning service seemed impossible with my financial situation. Cleaning for a Reason helped me,” said Mary Lou.
ISSA Scholars
ISSA Scholars help individuals fulfill their dreams of higher education, made possible by the generous contributions of ISSA member companies and individuals. Since 1988, ISSA Scholars has provided more than $4 million in financial aid to over 1,400 college and university students.
Students like Lukas Cascino have been able to attend college and get one step closer to achieving their dreams through the help of ISSA Scholars. “I will be attending Saint Francis University this fall, and I am enrolled in their accelerated Finance/MBA program with a dual major in Business Analytics. I will also be playing Division 1 golf for the university,” said Cascino. “My goal upon college graduation is to obtain a career as a financial analyst or personal financial advisor. By applying for the ISSA scholarship and completing the required essay, I was able to expand my knowledge of the cleaning industry. Receiving the ISSA scholarship has been an honor to me, and this financial aid award will assist me with the expenses of my undergraduate/graduate degrees.”Â
ISSA’s Hygieia Network
The ISSA Hygieia Network provides education, mentoring, networking, and support programs to help women succeed in the workplace.
Mentors like Jeff Lancaster have been able to provide guidance and support to help shape the next generation of leaders through utilizing ISSA’s Hygieia Network. “Having the opportunity to mentor allows me to share business experience, knowledge and thoughts with aspiring professionals,” said Lancaster. “By providing guidance and support, mentors can help shape the next generation of leaders, fostering growth and development within the industry. The mentoring relationships have had a positive impact on me by broadening my perspectives and by deepening the understanding of our own industry through exchanging ideas and experiences with mentees.”Â
These are just a few of the many recipients who have been impacted through the support of ISSA Charities.
